Our philosophy
We do not view history as something that belongs solely in textbooks or museums. We believe it can be brought to life through dance, theatre, music, costumes and shared experiences. For more than twenty years, we have been creating programmes that combine historical accuracy with the performing arts. During that time, we have produced dozens of choreographed pieces, theatre performances, historical fashion shows, stilt-walking performances and fire shows. Each new project builds on the experience we have gained over the years, whilst also bringing new ideas and our own creative perspective. Every performance is created from the initial idea right through to the final detail right here at Eliana. We consider the story, the atmosphere and the historical context, and seek a format for the programme that will work specifically in that location and for that particular audience. These are the values upon which our work is founded.
What we build on
History as a foundation
For us, history is more than just a backdrop. When creating our programmes, we draw on historical sources, period iconography and specialist literature. Thanks to our training in history, our long-standing interest in historical dance and our membership of specialist organisations, we strive to ensure that our programmes are firmly grounded in history whilst remaining accessible and engaging for today’s audience.
Over twenty years’ experience
We have been staging historical performances for over twenty years. During that time, we have created dozens of choreographies, theatre productions, historical fashion shows, stilt-walking performances and fire shows. Every new project builds on the experience we have gained over the years.
Original productions
Every programme is created entirely in-house at Eliana. From the initial idea, through research into the historical context, the script, choreography and musical concept, right through to the actual production. We enjoy combining historical dance, theatre, music, fashion and fire to create a natural whole.
A tailor-made programme
Every venue has its own atmosphere, and every organiser has a different vision. That is why we do not stick to a single fixed script. We tailor our programmes to the theme of the event, the venue and the audience, and seek a format that will work specifically where we are performing.
Moments that linger
Our greatest joy comes from those moments when the audience forgets the everyday for a moment. When music fills the courtyard, skirts twirl, the first flames are lit, and history becomes the present for a moment. It is for moments like these that we create Eliana.
We believe that history need not remain confined to the pages of books. It can be brought back to life through dance, music, theatre and moments shared together.
