How did you get into dance?
Dance has been a part of my life since childhood. For many years, I devoted myself to stage dance, which taught me to tell stories through movement. Later on, I met Eliška and together we began to explore the world of historical dance. It was then that I realised that history and dance can complement each other beautifully.
Co tě přivedlo k Japonsku?
Japonsko mě fascinuje svou estetikou, kulturou a respektem k tradicím. Proto se věnuji také japonskému tanci, který studuji přímo pod vedením japonské učitelky. Je to úplně jiný způsob vyjadřování, ale právě v tom je jeho kouzlo.
What do you enjoy most about Eliana?
I combine dance with acrobatics. Together with Eliška, we practise partner acrobatics, and I also really enjoy aerial acrobatics on the hoop. I enjoy exploring new ways of moving and surprising the audience.
Why aren’t you drawn to spoken theatre?
I’m not the sort of person who enjoys standing in front of an audience and talking at length. It feels much more natural for me to express emotions through movement, gesture or facial expression. I believe that powerful stories can be told even without words
Does architecture help you on stage as well?
Definitely. Architecture has taught me to perceive space, composition and harmony. I naturally carry these principles over into my movement and performances.
If you could travel through time, where would you go?
To ancient Japan. I’d love to see traditional dance, festivals and everyday life with my own eyes, and get to know the culture that inspires me so much.
What inspires you apart from Eliana?
Travelling. I’m most drawn to countries with a rich history and strong cultural traditions. Every journey gives me a new perspective on the world and inspiration for my future work.
What does Eliana mean to you?
A place where all my interests – dance, history, acrobatics and learning about different cultures – come together naturally. And also a group of people with whom we can work together to create something that will bring joy and a powerful experience to the audience.
