Stilt-walkers and stilt theatre

Imagine a figure several metres tall suddenly appearing amongst the audience. They stop, greet people and cheer up everyone passing by. This is exactly how stilt walkers can transform an ordinary event into a live theatre performance right amongst the audience.

​On stilts, interactive historical, fairy-tale and fantastical characters come to life – from elegant nobles and court ladies to cheerful jugglers.

The characters can move freely amongst the crowd, improvise or act out short sketches and scenes.

On request, we can also create a new character or an entirely bespoke concept.

As part of the Chůdadlo company, we offer other stilt-walking performances, such as characters from the commedia dell’arte or personifications of the elements – the Elementals.

Stilts are not just an attraction. They are characters that step right into your story.

Duration of the programme: a maximum of 2 hours in total; with breaks, performances can run throughout the day; standard format is 4 x 30 minutes or 3 x 45 minutes

Technical requirements: a ceiling height of at least 2.5 m is required for safe movement on stilts.
